No let-up in alertness on eastern border: COAS

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday expressed his satisfaction on operational preparedness and response to Indian ceasefire violations and said that there could not be any let-up in the preparedness for response against perpetual threat on the eastern border including Line of Control (LoC) and Line of Actual Contact (LAC).
He expressed these views during his visit to Rawalpindi Corps Headquarters and he was given comprehensive briefing on prevalent situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and Line of Actual Contact (LAC).
The COAS was also briefed on operational preparedness of the formations, an Inter-Services Public Relations press release said.
Earlier, Corps Commander 10 Corps Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza received the COAS on his arrival at Corps HQ.
Earlier, Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China Deng Xijun called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The matters of mutual interests including regional security issues with particular emphasis on Pak-Afghan border management and CT efforts were discussed during the meeting, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.
Visiting dignitary appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contributions and Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terrorism.
