Aqeel, Mudassir triumphant in rain-hit Nayza Tennis

LAHORE: Rain washed first half of Nayza All-Pakistan National Open Tennis Championship but in second session till 10 pm matches continued at PLTA Tennis Courts at Bagh-i-Jinnah.
However in the matches played on Thursday in the men’s singles first quarterfinals Aqeel Khan beat Abdal Haider of Islamabad by 6-3, 6-4 in a well-contested match. In 2nd quarterfinal Mudassir Murtaza of Jahania beat Heera Ashiq of Lahore by 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 whereas in 3rd quarterfinal Muhammad Abid beat Usman Rafiqe by 6-2, 6-3.
Other results: Boys Under-18: quarterfinal: Saqib Umer of Peshawar beat Nouman Aftab of Karachi by 7-6, 6-1. In Under-14 pre-quarterfinals Nalain Abbas beat Shahzeb by 4-0, 4-1, Farman Shakeel beat Hamaza Jawad by 4-0, 2-4, 4-2, Mahatir beat Ahmed by 4-1, 1-4, 4-1, Hamaza Roman beat Shakeel Tahir by 4-2, 5-3, Haseeb beat Faizan by 4-1, 5-3.
