CHARSADDA: Three members of a family were gunned down while two others, including a minor girl, sustained injuries in a firing incident in Kotak Koroona in the limits of Battagram Police Station on Saturday, police sources said.
The sources said that one Fazal Wahid along with his family was on his way home in Peshawar after attending a funeral in Kotak Koroona when gunmen identified as Malang, Noorullah and Sanaullah opened fire on the vehicle.
Fazal Wahid, his wife Asiya Bibi and Fazal Ahad were killed on the spot while the car overturned after the driver lost control, resulting in the injuries to Umar Khan and minor girl, Laiba.
The accused escaped the scene after committing the crime.
The locals and police reached spot and shifted the dead and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Charsadda. The injured were later taken to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar due to their critical condition.
The motive behind the incident was stated to be an old enmity. “One of the accused, Malang, has been arrested while the efforts are on to arrest the remaining two accused”, an official said.
