BAHAWALPUR: Eight people, including three students, were injured when a canteen caught fire at the Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur here on Thursday.
The canteen caught fire after a cylinder suddenly exploded. As a result, three students, four canteen workers and the canteen contractor’s wife were injured.
On information, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured people to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Islamia University Bahawalpur Vice-Chancellor Dr Qaisar Mushtaq, having additional charge of the women university, also reached the spot and monitored the situation. Police have started investigation after taking the canteen contractor into custody.
APP adds: According to Rescue 1122, three students - Hina Rafiq, Kashif Jabbar and Saba Razzaq – and four canteen workers - Perveen, Mumtaz, Amir and Arshad – were injured.
