‘Steps being taken to weed out terrorism’

BAHAWALPUR: All possible steps are being taken to weed out terrorism under the National Action Plan in Bahawalpur police range.
It was told by Bahawalpur RPO Ehsan Sadiq while talking to The News here on Wednesday. The RPO said that 173 cases had been registered under the Amended Ordinance of Sound System in Bahawalpur police range. He said that the accused were booked in Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan and Bahawalnagar districts. He said that challans of 144 cases had been presented in the courts. He said that 44 cases had been registered and 41 challans were presented in the courts in Bahawalpur district while 23 FIRs had been registered and 21 challans of the cases had been presented in the courts in Rahimyar Khan district and 106 cases has been registered and 82 challans had been presented in the courts in Bahawalnagar district. He said that the police of all three districts was striving for implementation of law without any discrimination.
CEREMONY TODAY: A ceremony will be organised for the new members of the DBA executive body at the Bahawalpur District and Sessions Office lawn on Thursday (today).
Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Justice Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmad will be the chief guest in the ceremony. The chief justice will also perform the court work in the LHC Bahawalpur Bench during his stay in the city on Thursday and Friday.
6 GAMBLERS HELD: Sama Satta police on Wednesday arrested six gamblers and recovered stake money from them.
On a tip-off, the police raided a den at Railway Colony and arrested six gamblers with strake money.
