HANGU: The police arrested 50 suspected persons during a search operation after threats were hurled by a banned militant organisation at the Police Training College, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters, District Police Officer Anwar Saeed Kundi said that a militant organisation had threatened to target the Police Training College. Subsequently, he said, search operation was launched in Guli Bagh, Lakhti Bandai, Qazi Pump, Umarabad, Kurramy Walo Killay, Ibrahimzai and Shahu area in the district.
During the search, 50 suspected persons were arrested and arms and ammunition was recovered from some of them, he added. He said the security had been beefed up and more checkpoints had been established to cope with the threat. He added that police patrols had been increased in the vicinity of the college.The Police Training College is the oldest and biggest of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is spread over a vast area and populated by a big number of policemen and recruits.
