OKARA: A lawyer shot at and injured his colleague on the sessions court premises here on Monday.
Mushtaq Ahmad advocate and Abid Waseem Chaudhry advocate were giving arguments in a case in the court of District and Sessions Judge Rana Abdul Hafeez when they turned harsh and scuffled with each other. The others lawyers, who were present in the courtroom, pacified them. When both the lawyers came out of the court, they again scuffled with each other. In the meantime, Mushtaq allegedly shot at and injured Abid Waseem. The injured lawyer was shifted to the DHQ Hospital. Sadr police are investigating.
‘QADRI TO RETURN IN MARCH’: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) central president Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has said that his party does not trust the joint investigation team because all the police officers, included in the JIT, are favourites of CM Shahbaz Sharif.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said that the JIT was not formed on neutral police officials belonging to other provinces, therefore, the PAT would not attend its proceedings. He said that PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri would return to Pakistan in March. The PAT had very good relations with all the opposition parties, including the PML-Q, he added. He said that the future political strategy would soon be chalked out.

Earlier, TOP Javed Anwar Gondal and TOI&D Muhammad Saeed had already got themselves transferred from Okara on the same reason, the sources added. They said that situation was affecting work and performance of the TMA.
Meanwhile, the people appealed to the Punjab chief secretary, the Sahiwal commissioner and the Okara DCO to intervene and resolve the issue. When contacted, TMA Administrator Sheikh Fareed Ahmad did not attend phone calls.
