DIR: At least six children, including a boy,girl and 4 sisters, were killed and a woman sustained injuries when fire erupted at a house in a far-flung Doogdara area of Upper Dir late Sunday night, police sources said.
The sources said that the family members of one Hamesh Gul were asleep when the fire erupted due to short-circuiting, which engulfed the whole house in a jiffy. The locals tried their level best to extinguish the fire but could not rescue six kids, they said. However, the managed to rescue a woman in injured condition. The deceased were identified as Neelam, Nasreen, Warisha Mudasir and Yasir, the son and daughters of Hamesh Gul, and Samina, daughter of Bawar Khan. The wife of Hamesh Gul suffered burn injuries. She was rushed to Rural Health Centre in Sheringal for treatment by the locals.
