Police claim arresting robbers, murder accused in Mardan

MARDAN: The police on Monday claimed to have arrested several robbers and recovered looted cash, gold and other valuables from them.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fazl-e-Wahid Khan made the claim while addressing a press conference. Station House Officer (SHO) of Rustam Police Station Muqadam Khan and SHO Shahbaz Garhi Mohammad Riaz Khan were also present.
The DSP said that on February 3, unidentified people killed one Diyar Khan and later a watchman with the murder. He added that a police party headed by Muqadam Khan traced the case and arrested Mohammad Rahim and Asad Bacha.
He said another police party headed by SHO Mohammad Riaz Khan arrested several others, including Ziarat Khan, Jawad Khan, Fawad, Kashif, Zakir and Salar, and recovered Rs40,000 cash and a 30-bore pistol snatched from people in several robberies. He added that SHO Mohammad Riaz Khan also arrested another group of dacoits including Anwar Hussain and Ayaz Khan and Nasir.
He said the police had also recovered different kinds of gold ornaments, two pistols and Rs179,000 cash looted from the house of Mian Sajjidullah, resident of Baghicha Garhi, on November 20 last year. He said those arrested were being interrogated.
