Man killed as British-era bridge collapses in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A man was killed and two others sustained injuries as a portion of the British-era bridge on Kabul River in the Sardaryab picnic spot collapsed here on Saturday.

Called as Gulabad Bridge, it was constructed in 1937 over Kabul River in Sardaryab area.

The portion of the bridge collapsed when a truck loaded with cement bags was crossing it. As a result, the truck fell into the river.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Rahmat Gul was killed in the incident while two other persons including Fazal Ahmad and Aman Ali sustained injuries.
