Two mortar shells recovered from sand heap

BAHAWALPUR: Two mortar shells were found during unloading of sand by labourers on Channar Pir Road in Yazman on Friday.
As the mortar shells were recovered, locals informed Yazman City police, who rushed to the spot and called the bomb disposal squad (BDS) from Bahawalpur. According to SHO Meraj Khan Abbasi, although the BDS team from Bahawalpur reached the spot yet it expressed inability to defuse the mortar shells. To it, Pak Army was informed, who rushed to the spot and took the mortar shells to Cholistan Desert to defuse them there. The mortar shells have came in sand which has been loaded from a canal near Cholistan Desert, a Pak Army exercise area.
