Siraj warns against removal of Articles 62, 63
DIR: Terming any bid to remove article 62 and 63 as a ‘suicide attack’ on the Constitution, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq Tuesday warned that no one would be allowed to repeal the law pertaining to honesty and truthfulness of public representatives.
He was addressing a public gathering in Brawal area of Upper Dir district.
Provincial president of JI Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan, District Nazim Sahibzada Faseehullah, Tehsil Nazims Mir Makhzanuddin and Jehan Alam, Malak Behram Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
Sirajul Haq said that corrupt politicians wanted removal of the articles 62 and 63 to save their political career as in the presence of these sections they would not be able to qualify for holding public offices.
He declared to launch nationwide campaign against corruption from next month, which would continue till complete accountability of all the corrupt politicians and officers.
The JI chief also condemned the US President Donald Trump’s statement against Pakistan, saying that the US was suffering a humiliating defeat in the war-ravaged Afghanistan and in order to hide its failure it was leveling allegations against Pakistan.
President Trump’s threats to Pakistan were not more than a joke, he said. The US should think over its humiliation in Afghanistan before giving threats to Pakistan, he added.
He urged the government to immediately stop supply to Nato troops in Afghanistan via Pakistan.
Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that 73,000 Pakistanis had been killed in the so-called war against terrorism besides causing material losses worth $ 118 billion. But, still the US was not satisfied with sacrifices of Pakistan, he said, adding, the US should review its attitude towards Pakistan.
