Nawaz became king instead of making parliament supreme: Zardari
LAHORE: PPP-P head Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said they strengthened democracy through the Charter of Democracy but Nawaz Sharif weakened it by his attitude.
The former prime minister, he said, became a king instead of making parliament supreme and earned the fate only due to his actions. Zardari said the chapter of reconciliation with the PML-N had closed long ago and the reports about the subject were baseless. There was no enemy of Nawaz, he is his enemy himself, remarked the former president.
He was talking to senior PPP leaders – including Qayyum Soomro, Abdul Qadri Shaheen, Aziz-ur-Rehman Chun and others – as they discussed the party affairs and the latest political situation.
Zardari said the PPP had transferred powers to parliament but Nawaz became source of all powers and was even not ready to meet the ministers, MNAs and MPAs.
The PML-N had been destroyed by internal conf-lict and tug-of-power, he claimed. Zardari said Nawaz did not learn anything from the PPP’s approach and opted for arrogance. He said the PPP had again given a young leadership in the shape of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who would carry forward the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, adding that the people from all the four provinces loved the PPP chairman.
