Corrupt rulers deserve no leniency: Siraj
LAHORE: JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said self-centered leaders and rulers have done greater harm to the country than the foreign enemies.
While the common Pakistanis are laying their lives for the sake of the country, the rulers are only worried about their personal and family interests, he said while speaking at a party meeting to review progress of JI’s Corruption Free Pakistan campaign at Mansoora on Tuesday.
Sirajul Haq said the ruling elite had big businesses abroad and they came to Pakistan only to rule. These leaders had palaces in London, Dubai and New York and their younger generation also enjoyed lives abroad. These leaders had gifted poverty, hunger, loadshedding and corruption to the masses.
He said these leaders did not deserve any leniency and they must be brought to accountability. Not only Pervez Musharraf and Zardari, but also the owners of offshore companies and those devouring huge bank loans must be brought to the dock, he added. JI ameer said unless and until the public money was recovered from these plunderers, the country and the nation won’t gain much from the entire process of accountability. He said dialogue between the stakeholders should aim at eliminating corrupt system and not for the sake of protection. Reiterating his demand for quick electoral reforms, Sirajul Haq said that elections without reforms would be a futile exercise.
Sirajul Haq said Kashmiris were observing India’s Independence Day as Black Day and Pakistan government should have extended all out support to them. However, he said, the civil leadership was keeping itself away from the Kashmiris’ movement only due to US pressure.
Meanwhile, addressing notables from NA 126, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said those conspiring to abolish articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution would be eliminated themselves. He appreciated president’s statement that the political leadership should unite on the Constitution, rule of law and merit.
