Ashab, Uzair, Malik move ahead in Asian Junior Squash
KARACHI: Ashab Irfan, Uzair Shaukat, and Abdul Malik moved into the second round of the 24th Asian Junior Individual Squash Open in Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday.
In the under-15 category, Ashab defeated N Karunaratne of Sri Lanka 11-3, 11-6, 11-4 in the first round. He will now face second seed Neel Joshi of India in the second round. In the under-17 category, Uzair thrashed Nicolas Elias Nassar of Libya 11-2, 11-1, 11-2 in the first round. He will play against Yash Fadte of India in the second round.
In the under-19 category, Abdul Malik defeated Mohammed Al-Majidi of Iraq 11-4, 11-4, 11-9 in the first round. He will be up against Adhitya Raghavan of India in the second round.
The championships has attracted 128 players from Hong Kong China, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Macau China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Qatar and Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka have sent 32 junior players each to fight for medals of the eight age categories.
