QWP launches bid to bring no-trust against Charsadda district nazim, deputy
CHARSADDA: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) has decided to join hands with other political parties to bring no-confidence motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nazim and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) naib nazim.
The sources said that QWP and Awami National Party (ANP) with the support of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have agreed to bring no-trust motion against District Nazim Fahad Riaz and Naib Nazim Musawir Shah.
The sources added that QWP had informed the Local Government Department and submitted a request for convening the district council’s session for August 15.
The three parties, QWP, JI and PTI, are part of the district government while the ANP and JUI-F are in the opposition.
However, after being expelled from the government in the province, the QWP wants to bring down the PTI-led district government.
The QWP is represented by 16, ANP 25 and JUI-F by 9 councillors in the 75-member council. The PTI and JI both have 25 members.
The district council has failed to convene a budget session due to the district government’s failure to overcome the quorum issue.
The sources said the three parties joining hands against the PTI-led district government have also started negotiation for an electoral alliance for the next general election.
They added that leadership of these parties had started holding secret meeting to finalise the details of the proposed electoral alliance.
