Preparations to welcome Nawaz Sharif in Rawalpindi finalised
Rawalpindi: On the directions of Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem, workers, supporters and sympathisers have finalised preparations to accord former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a warm welcome on his arrival here in Rawalpindi city while on his way to Lahore via GT Road today (Wednesday).
According to Punjab government spokesman Dr. Asif Kirmani has rejected all rumours regarding any change in the schedule saying former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will go to Lahore through GT Road.
As per the schedule, Nawaz Sharif will depart for Lahore from D-Chowk in Islamabad at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The caravan will reach Zero Point through travelling Blue Area. At Zero Point, rallies coming from different areas will join the procession.
The caravan will go to Faizabad to Rawalpindi city through Murree Road, where PML-N workers and supporters from Rawalpindi will welcome the former prime minister.
The PML-N leaders have suggested stopping general traffic on Murree Road when Nawaz Sharif will reach Rawalpindi on August 9. They have also suggested blocking roads with containers to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem has directed workers and supporters to be ready to accord warm welcome to Nawaz Sharif in Rawalpindi. He has directed all union council level general councillors, chairman and vice chairman’s to gather supporters to accord warm welcome to Nawaz Sharif. He also said that Nawaz Sharif will address the nation soon.
On the other hand, charged PML-N workers remained busy making preparations to erect uncountable welcome camps at Faizabad, Committee Chowk, Kutchery Chowk, Soan and Rawat on GT Road. The Nawaz League lawyers will also welcome their leader in front of District Bar Association (DBA), Rawalpindi on the occasion.
The PML-N supporters have displayed big pictures of Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif here at every nook and corner of the city. Sources from PML-N local leadership said that Nawaz Sharif will also address party workers in Rawalpindi.
The security and traffic plan on the arrival of the ousted prime minister on August 9 in Rawalpindi has also been finalised. Police sources said that more than 3,000 policemen would be deployed on the route of Nawaz Sharif’s motorcade, while aerial vigilance will also be conducted. Police had also started taking containers in their possession to shut the routes leading toward Nawaz Sharif rally route, the sources added.
