Pak-India dialogue teams meet Zardari in Dubai
DUBAI: Former president and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan and India cannot resolve the complicated Kashmir issue without involving the real representatives of Kashmir.
This was elaborated during the meeting between the participants of Pakistan-India dialogue and the former president. The two-day dialogue between opinion makers, influential persons of the society and government concluded in Dubai.
Sources informed The News that the representatives of both the countries had showed interest to meet the former president who has been living in Dubai. Asif Zardari has said this is the time for us to sit together and work out a solution to the long-drawn issue.
Chaudhry Latif Akbar (PPP AJK), Abdur Rashid Turabi (JI AJK), Amjad Yousuf, Columnist Irshad Mehmood, Dr Shaheen Akhtar (National Defence University Islamabad) from Pakistan while Air Vice Marshal (R) Kapil Kak, Vikram J. (BJP), Nasir Aslam (National Conference), Aslam Karbalaye (Congress), Faiz Naqsh Bandi (Hurriyat), Human Rights activist Khurram Pervez, Shujaat Bukhari (Editor Rising Kashmir), Senior journalist Iftikhar Gilani and few others met with the former President Asif Zardari.
While talking with The News, President PPP AJK Chaudhry Latif Akbar said that the meeting between Asif Ali Zardari and representatives of Pakistan-India talks were eye-opener for Kashmiri participants. He said that the participants were delighted to meet Zardari and declared him a “Visionary Leader”.
Meanwhile, former adviser to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Javed Yaqoob hosted a dinner in a local hotel of Dubai where local PPP leaders Mian Munir Hans, Ishaq Badar, Rashid Chughtai, Shareen Durrani, Malik Zahida Awan, Mehfooz Chichi and others also attended the gathering.
While, addressing the Kashmiri community living in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Chaudhry Latif Akbar lauded the efforts of PPP leadership to highlight the Kashmiris suffering globally. He also acknowledged the freedom and struggle movement currently being fought against armed forces in occupied Kashmir.
Former adviser to Azad Jammu and Kashmir government Sardar Javed Yaqoob also addressed the gathering and slammed the current AJK government led by Prime Minister AJK Farooq Haider. He said that Muzaffarabad-government has not been concentrating on Kashmir’s issues rather focusing on Pakistan’s political scenario.
