Country in serious danger: Qureshi
MULTAN: PTI Vice-Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said the country is passing through a critical phase and facing serious dangers from all sides.
Talking to journalists at Jamia Khairul Madaris on the inauguration of a water filtration plant donated by ex-governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, he said the whole nation was admiring the Supreme Court's historical judgment in the Panama case while the government was showing anxiety.
He said Ch Sarwar would contest on the PTI ticket from NA-118 instead of NA-120.
Qureshi said the country was passing through a critical juncture as the US administration was redesigning new policies for the region that can affect Pakistan and India in coming days.
He said democracy would be strengthened in the light of the SC verdict in the Panama case. Qureshi said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had misguided his party.
Qureshi said he had predicted that the PML-N would nominate new PM for 10 months not for 45 days, saying that Shahbaz Sharif's nomination for the PM office would divide the party to greater extent.
Qureshi said the government was busy issuing statements on non-issues.
He said Nawaz Sharif could not enjoy protocol after his disqualification.
He said armed forces had rendered unforgettable sacrifices. Qureshi said the Constitution forbids from criticising army and judiciary, saying that those who are speaking against the institutions are committing high treason.
He said the accountability process would strengthen democracy.
Talking to reporters, Ch Sarwar said the south Punjab is kept underdeveloped and the whole region was facing deprivations in all sectors due to lack of proper attention paid by the PML-N in the past.
