Concern over couples’ fleecing by criminals

JHANG: People have expressed their concern over fleecing of couples in public parks by unknown criminals.
They told The News that the criminals raided public parks, private houses and restaurants and asked them to prove their identity and relation. They alleged that the criminals were sometime in police uniforms and asked the couples to give them ‘gratification’ to avoid legal action. “The couples gave up to Rs 20,000-25,000 at the scene to save themselves from insult and disrespect,” they added. They said that such incidents occurred in the jurisdiction of the City, Kotwali, Sadr and Satellite Town police. They said in some cases couples were shifted to a place in Ayub Chowk to strike a deal.
They revealed that the criminals sometimes made movies of the couples and threatened them to upload on the Internet if they did not give them money. They appealed to the IGP, the Faisalabad RPO and DPO Zeeshan Asghar to take notice of the situation and protect the couples from extortion at the hands of criminals.
