Member accuses PTI’s Haripur Nazim of corruption
HARIPUR: A member of district council from Khalabat Union Council, belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Sunday accused own party’s district nazim of corruption.
Speaking at a news conference at his office in Khalabat Township, Azmat Tareen, claimed that he had undeniable proofs of his corruption, which he was going to share with the provincial and central leadership of the party.
The district councillor also accused the district nazim of moral corruption that he claimed led to spoiling the future of one of the female district councillors. “He has no right to stay in the office anymore as he lost moral and legal justification of calling himself as district nazim,” Azmat Tareen said, adding he would tender resignation in protest both from the basic membership of PTI and seat of district councillor if the party leadership did not take action against him.
When contacted, District Nazim Adil Islam denied the allegations, adding the man had no political or moral standing. He said he was just playing into the hands of a specific lobby within the party that had always created obstacles to his development agenda.
He said that Azmat Tareen had never been the worker of PTI in the past and joined the party a few days ahead of the LG election. The district nazim said if he had any proof he must bring it forth. He claimed that he was strong enough and enjoying the support of majority members.
