Chinese varsity appoints ICCBS director as visiting faulty

The Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM) has appointed internationally renowned Pakistani scientist Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary as a visiting professor of natural pharmaceutical chemistry. 

An official of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) of University of Karachi said on Monday that the Chinese university has appointed Prof Choudhary its faculty till January 11, 2020, in recognition of his commendable scientific research and services in the field of chemistry.

The ICCBS director has written and edited 59 books, most of which have been published in the US and Europe. He is also the author of over 1,002 research papers and chapters in top international science journals of the West, as well as 43 US patents.

“The cumulative impact factor of his publications is over 1,800. His scientific work has been cited more than 12,000 times by other researchers with the h-index of 42. This is by far the largest number of quality publications, citations and h-index from any scientist in Pakistan.”

He also mentioned that Prof Choudhary has won several national and international awards, including Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He received the prestigious title of “Distinguish National Professor” from the Higher Education Commission in 2004.
