Sit-in trendsetters damaged development plans: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday the sit-in trendsetters used every conceivable tactic to dent the national economy and had badly damaged the development plans. He said the sit-in group head had always looked for simulated backing in politics but was being rejected by the people on every front.

“Our sensible public – by remaining indifferent to long march, sit-ins and protests – has demonstrated that they only want development of their country,” he noted.People had given the mandate of public service to the PML-N, the politics of which was based on people’s progress and prosperity, Shahbaz said.

“On the other hand are those trying to push the nation in the opposite direction with their negative politics as these elements do not want elimination of extremism, poverty, unemployment and darkness from the country,” he added.

Talking to a delegation of the PML-N office bearers, the chief minister said public service wasn’t a cup of tea for those whose politics just revolved around lies and accusation. “These political elements should keep in their mind that they can’t make the nation hostage through their non-democratic practices.”

“A politician, who is also expert of allegations, has broken all records of lies and these malignant elements are risking the destiny of the country for their lust for power,” said the chief minister.

He said history and the nation would never forgive those responsible for creating chaos, agitation and confrontation in the country.Shahbaz said under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N had served the people wholeheartedly and they would remain among the people during life and even death.

He said the prime minister served the people selflessly during the last four years and steered Pakistan out of the darkness and put on the road to progress and prosperity. The journey to serve the people would continue under the prime minister’s dynamic leadership.

The chief minister said the prime minister’s dynamic leadership. The chief minister said the corruption of former rulers, who plundered national resources, had left country in a terrible condition. The corrupt mafia, nepotism and dishonesty pushed national institutions towards the brink of disaster, he added.

Separately, the chief minister said a justice-based society was a pre-requisite for socioeconomic development of the country, adding that providing justice to the citizens was a responsibility of the state.

In a message on International Justice Day, he said provision of justice to all sections of the society was a must in order to make Pakistan a diverse and progressive nation. One the other hand, Shahbaz strongly condemned the incident in which the Indian forces targeted an army vehicle at Line of Control.

He expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of four Pakistani soldiers after the vehicle fell into River Neelum as a result of Indian aggression. He paid homage to the bravery of martyred soldiers and expressed condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families.
