Three killed as chairlift falls in Kalam Valley
MINGORA: Three personswere drowned when a chairlift fell into the river in the Ashran area in Kalam valley, police and locals said. The local people said that the bridge that connected the two villages of Ashran and Paler had been destroyed.
A chairlift was installed over the river subsequently, which connected Ashran with Paler in Kalam. “Five people boarded the chairlift on Saturday morning. The rope snapped and chairlift fell into the river,” said an eyewitness. The local people launched the rescue efforts and recovered two persons in an injured condition. Those rescued were identified as Ikram Hussain, son of, Danish, a resident of Paler, and Amir Said, son of Hazrat, a resident of Kalam. The injuredwere shifted to the KalamHospital on self-help basis.
The rest of the three persons could not be saved. They were identified as Shaukat, a resident of Kalam, Amjad, a resident of Paler, and Sher Azam, a resident of Kalam. The people recovered two bodies after hectic efforts while the search for the third was continuing.
