SIALKOT: About 350 illegal Afghan families have so far been deported to Afghanistan from the district, said DPO Dr Asif Shahzad.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that the crackdown on unregistered and illegal Afghans was under way in the district. He said that all Afghans, who had been issued NICs under an accord with the United Nations, would also be sent back to the refugee camps and permission had been sought from the Nadra to access record of such Afghans.
Sialkot was facing severe traffic problems, he said, adding that a pilot project was being prepared to resolve the issue. He said that encroachments would be removed from Allama Iqbal Chowk, Mujahid Road, Railway Road and other busy localities to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He said that police check posts in different parts of the city would be changed to check the street crime.
