ISLAMABAD: Senior lawyer Ahmar Bilal Soofi has said that after induction of two members of intelligence agencies in the JIT, the court has basically got guidance following the Indian Supreme Court decision.
Talking in a ‘Nia Pakistan Programme’ on Saturday, Ahmar Bilal Soofi said that induction of IB or ISI people in such groups would create difficulties for Pakistan as civil-military divide was at large.
“When IB or ISI representatives investigate any issue on the orders of the Supreme Court, it will involve a political question,” he said and added that on the other hand, officials of the agencies had expertise of collecting information but they had not specialisation in collection of proofs and evidence.
He said that the basic purpose of JIT was to collect evidence and proofs and make these authenticated. He said that JIT and intelligence agencies had separate responsibilities as intelligence collection and evidence gathering are two different things. He further stated that basic purpose of JIT was collection of authentic evidence.
