LAHORE A citizen was shot dead by three robbers on resistance in the Defence area on Friday. Three armed robbers broke into a cloth shop and opened indiscriminate firing on resistance by citizens. As a result, a man sustained fatal wounds. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Police have removed the body to morgue.
Meanwhile, an elderly man was found dead in the limits of Musti Gate police. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died a natural death. Police have removed the body to morgue.
Eid plan: The Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 ambulance, rescue and fire services will remain ready on emergency alert during Eid holidays in all districts of Punjab to provide emergency cover to the citizens in case of any emergency.
In this regard, Punjab Rescue DG Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed special arrangements in a meeting held at Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Friday. The meeting was attended by all heads of wings.
Rescue 1122 will also remain on high alert in all districts for effective response and management of emergencies. The meeting was told that all districts emergency services had chalked out plans for deployment of ambulance, rescue and fire services at important mosques and Eidgahs.
Dr Rizwan Naseer directed all the district emergency officers to organise meetings with local mosque committees and ensure that Rescue Mohafiz of Community Emergency Response Teams were available in all union councils of Punjab in case of any emergency. He also directed them to hold meetings with management of district/tehsil headquarters hospitals for better management of any untoward incident. Special mobile posts will also be established for providing effective medical cover to the Eid gatherings. The director general wished all the citizens a safe Eid and advised the motorists to drive safely.

The traffic officers and traffic wardens performed well during the month of Ramazan. He expressed these views during the Eidi and commendatory certificates distribution ceremony held at CTO Office on Friday.
The CTO gave away Eidi and commendation certificates to Inspector Nazia Baqir, Inspector Shafqat, PA Abdul Ghaffar, Lady Traffic Warden Asma Ch, Traffic Warden Qadeer Dogar, Traffic Warden Moazzam Ali, Traffic Waden Amir, Traffic Warden Muhammad Shehzad, Traffic Warden Khalid, Traffic Warden Azhar, Traffic Warden Tallal, Traffic Warden Arslan, Muhammad Fiaz and others.
accidents: At least 719 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 from all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Four lives were lost and 627 people sustained critical injured. The injured were removed to different hospitals.
