The metropolis is seeing a rise in robbery incidents ahead of Eidul Fitr, with two CCTV videos showing broad daylight robberies, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
Two men, one of them covering his face, could be seen in CCTV footage robbing a super store at gunpoint in the Khokhrapar area. Police said robbers took away more than Rs300,000. In a similar incident in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 7, robbers stole mobile phones and wallets of people observing Aitekaf in a mosque.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar took notice of the incident after the news was aired and sought a report from DIG East Arif Hanif. In yet another incident, police arrested a suspect on Rashid Minhas Road near the Gulistan-e-Johar area for allegedly robbing Rs1.2 million from a man. According to SP Gulshan Murtaza Bhutto, the police also seized weapons and a motorcycle from the suspect.
