Make Model Town incident report public, demands Qadri
LAHORE
Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has demanded making public the Baqar Najafi report to do justice to victims of the Model Town incident.
Speaking to a meeting of the Central Core Committee on Friday, he said it is an irony that three years have gone but the report has not been made public. He said if the rulers think they are not involved in the incident, what is the justification for delaying release of the report.
He said the PAT holds them responsible for the Model Town killings for following reasons. Families of the victims were refused registration of the FIR, an impartial JIT was not formed, the Baqar Najafi report was not made public, accused police officials were gifted with lucrative positions, bailing out of accused policemen and their appointment on key positions, offering huge money to victim families and favouring accused policemen by the prosecution in the ATC. He said the barriers were put up on the court orders by police and launching an operation for their removal was itself a proof of big game plan.
Dr Qadri said the case is now in the court of Allah Almighty. He said the PAT would go to the last extent to get Qisas. He said they would resort to public rallies and protests if justice was not done to the Model Town victims. He said Quran Khawani would be held for the victims of the Model Town incident on June 17 (today) at Shehr-e-Aitkaf.
