All industrial workers to get Benazir Mazdoor Card for SESSI facilities
All industrial workers in the province will get a “Benazir Mazdoor Card” from the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) very soon after transparent registration for the facilities provided to them by the Sindh Social Security Institutions (SESSI).
This was stated by Labour, Transport, Mass Transit and Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah at a meeting with Nadra authorities led by Sindh Director General Lt-Col Muhammad Ahmed Khatak at Committee Room No.1 of the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by SESSI Commissioner Farooq Legari, Vice Commissioner Shahid Abdul Salam, Medical Director Dr Mumtaz Ali Shaikh, AC Labour Mines Welfare Raja Altaf, Tasneem Saeed, Syed Hamid Ali and Nadra Director Khalid Waleed, Qaisar Iqbal and Sidra Ali.
The minister said that a proposal was under consideration to provide the Benazir Mazdoor Card through a contact to be made with Nadra.
Under SESSI, he said, all registered workers would get the facility, through which a modern system would be evolved to provide services and welfare packages to the industrial workers.
He said Nadra woud issue the Benazir Mazdoor Card, for which a joint committee had been constituted to ascertain the proposal of Nadra and finalise the recommendation for the benefit for the industrial workers.
Shah stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had always taken positive measures and established welfare institutions for the labourers to reduce poverty and enhance their living standard so that they could become useful members of society.
He maintained that the Benazir Mazdoor Card was a continuation of the PPP development programme for the labourers and workers.
The Sindh Nadra directory general and his team, including Khalid Waleed and Qaisar Iqbal, briefed the labour minister about the salient features of the Benazir Mazdoor Card, including registration, profiling, category, verification and data of employers and workers, to ensure transparency and modernisation.
During the meeting, two samples were also displayed for approval by the minister and the chief minister.
They also briefed the minister about the various services offered by Nadra at every level throughout the country for the benefits of the public.
