Nawaz in Murree

Barack Obama’s historic visit to India and his administration’s new-found love for the hardline BJP leadership in forging a global and strategic partnership – a real game-changer in the context of Pakistan and its paramount national interests – has been the most noteworthy event of the week. Not to be overlooked is the visit of Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif to China to bolster Sino-Pak relations, covering the entire gamut of regional and global politics.
On the domestic front, the weekend retreat of our prime minister to Raiwind to unwind and recoup from the rigours of a return flight from Saudi Arabia and then to the hill station hideaway in Murree to enjoy the snowfall has been the most significant event. With almost all the burden of national responsibility having been shed, PM Nawaz can relax. He has every right to spend his all-paid-for weekends at Raiwind and enjoy the snow at Murree.
