Journalist shot dead in Haripur
HARIPUR: A journalist was gunned down here on Sunday morning, police officials said.They said that Bakhsheesh Elahi, bureau chief of Daily K2 Times, was on his way to Haripur city when unidentified motorcyclists sprayed him with bullets in a place falling in jurisdiction of the Sarai Saleh Police Station. His body was handed over to his family for burial after undergoing medico-legal formalities.
The police registered the case and started investigation. “The probe is underway to determine the motive behind the killing,” said an official.Meanwhile, the members of Haripur Union of Journalists condemned the murder of their colleague and demanded the government to arrest the culprits forthwith.
They asked the government to announce compensation for the family of slain journalist. The local journalists also staged a rally to protest the incident.APP adds: Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb Sunday strongly condemned the heinous murder of a Haripur- based senior journalist Bakhshish Elahi which reportedly was an act of target killing.
