Karachi: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Thursday announced that Kandhkot Gas Field (KGF) sales have jumped to 230 mmscfd ahead of time, while the company was all set to jack them up further to 250 mmscfd, when required.

According to a notice sent to Pakistan Stock Exchange, earlier, the company has been supplying an average of 180 mmscfd gas to Guddu Thermal Power Station from the KGF.

“The PPL has been consistently making efforts, especially during the last nine months, to tap the optimal potential of Kandhkot through fast-track development drilling, revamping of compressors and debottlenecking of production facilities,” the bourse filing said.

The company added that it has plans to drill seven development wells in KGF during this year. “Of these, three wells have already been completed, adding 50 MMscfd gas to national supply, while a three-rig operation is ongoing,” the PPL said in the filing. It further said the PPL has recently increased production through optimising reserves replacement and development efforts from mature fields, including Sui, Kandhkot, and Adhi, notably achieving a major milestone of net production crossing the 1 Bcfe/day-mark in November 2016.

The pioneer of the natural gas industry in the country, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has been a frontline player in the energy sector since the mid-1950s. As a major supplier of natural gas, PPL today contributes over 20 percent of the country’s total natural gas supplies besides producing crude oil, natural gas liquid and liquefied petroleum gas.

Operated by the PPL and situated on the right bank of Indus River, KGF’s reserves are concentrated in the Habib Rahi Limestone, Sui Main and Upper Limestone reservoirs.
