Traders observe strike in Nawabshah
NAWABSHAH: The traders of Nawabshah observed shutter-down strike against continued loadshedding on Wednesday. The shops in Mohni Bazar, Masjid Road, Market Road, Kachehry Road and Liaquat Market remained closed.
The traders walked from Golwala building to Sheraz Chowk, where they staged a sit-in against continued loadshedding. While talking to media, the traders said that Hesco was doing 16-20 hours of loadshedding, which had forced the traders’ community to observe a shutter-down strike. They said that a pall of gloom billowed over the markets as the business had completely deteriorated.
They further added that the federal government claimed that there was no loadshedding, however, they had gifted 16-20 hours of loadshedding to people in the Holy month of Ramzan. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nouman SIddique arrived at the sit-in venue and expressed his solidarity with the traders and assured that he would meet Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) officials to resolve the issue of loadshedding in Nawabshah.
While talking to ‘The News’, Hesco Superintendent Engineer Malik Imtiazul Haque said that problems in power supply were being redressed and supply would be restored within few days.On the other hand, the consumers coming from remote areas for shopping in Nawabshah faced difficulties as markets were closed.
