APML office-bearers in Chitral quit in protest
CHITRAL: The office-bearers of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) resigned from their respective party positions after the nomination of an ex-bureaucrat as district president.
The office-bearers tendered their resignations at a meeting held here at a hotel. Former district president Shahzada Khalid Pervez presided over the meeting.The meeting expressed concerned over selection of Sultan Wazir, a former income tax commissioner, as district president of the party.
The participants of the meeting alleged that provincial and central leaders were not taking local leaders into confidence before appointment of president and secretary.They said that Chitral was the only district where party had representation in the National Assembly and district and tehsil councils.
They criticised the central and provincial leadership for repeatedly changing the district leadership. They added that several party workers had joined other parties due to the leadership indifference. Central women wing general secretary Taqdira Ajmal Razakhel also resigned from the party position.
