48 suspects held under NAP in Multan
MULTAN: Police on Saturday arrested 48 suspects during a search operation of 155 houses in Jamilabad and Fatima Colony under the National Action Plan.
A spokesman for the police said that the police conducted biometric scanning of 190 people during the search operation of 155 houses and arrested five persons for keeping illegal weapons. The police also recovered six guns and 20 bullets, he informed.
The police and other law enforcement agencies nabbed 38 criminals involved in heinous crimes while 18 drug peddlers were also arrested during the operation, he added. The police also recovered a huge quantity of drugs from their custody, he maintained. Meanwhile, the police have made a foolproof Ramazan special security plan and all mosques have been divided into A, B and C categories. As many as 1,585 mosques have been identified in the district where 1,356 police personnel would be appointed for security duty.
The mosques having serious security threats are kept in category A while the rest of mosques are kept in B and C categories. Briefing the journalists regarding Ramazan security, CPO Ahsan Younis said that a large numbers of PQRs and volunteers would also perform security duties during the Ramazan. He said that 1,356 police personnel, including four SPs, 11 DSPs, 15 inspectors, 49 sub-inspectors, 92 ASIs, 59 head constables and 751 constables would be posted for Ramazan security.
He said that stringent security measures had been taken to avert any untoward incident. He said that the Elite Force and Muhafiz Squad personnel would patrol in sensitive areas. CCTV cameras had been installed at various points to monitor mosques, he told. He said that parking would not be allowed near mosques, adding that Sound System Ordinance would be fully implemented.
