No SSC classes in Bajaur school for lack of staff

KHAR: The 9th and 10th classes in a state-run school have been discontinued for lack of required staff which has put the future of 110 students uncertain in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency, locals said Friday.

Talking to The News, Shafiullah, a resident of Shangargul in Salarzai, said the administration of a state-run high school in the area had informed the students that the school had discontinued the classes for the two grades for lack of the required staff. He said the students were advised to get enrolled in other schools.

The resident said the decision had affected 110 students and the development could lead to waste of a precious year of these children. When contacted, the Assistant Education Officer, Madin, confirmed the reports, saying the directives were issued due to lack of staff to teach the 9th and 10th grade students.

The official said seven posts of teachers, including that of headmaster, two subject specialists, three certified teachers and an Arabic teacher had been lying vacant at the school since long. He said the school was situated in a remote and backward area and no teacher was willing to be posted there.

The official said that according to the education policy local people shall be appointed in every school but lamented that the area was backward and the locals lacked required qualification to be appointed in the school.He said the classes would be resumed in the school after filling the vacant posts.
