LANDIKOTAL: Evacuation of Pakistani families from the villages along Afghan border continued on the second day on Monday as more than 140 families from Samsay and Sheenpokh areas took shelter with their relatives in Loey Shalman valley of Landikotal tehsil, officials said.
Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal, Niaz Muhammad, told The News that after the evacuation of 80 Pakistani families from Samsay the other day, over 60 families were shifted to Kandaw area in Loey Shalman.
He said that Political Tehsildar Irshad had been tasked to register the temporarily displaced persons and provide them necessary items.However, Niaz Muhammad said not all people, but only those living in vulnerable and risky areas with Afghan border were asked to vacate their villages.
He said with the help of Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), all the families would be provided different food and none-food items from today (Tuesday). A woman was killed while her son had sustained serious injuries as a mortar shell hit a home in Samsay four days ago.
Meanwhile, APA Niaz Muhammad went to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar and inquired after the health of 9-year-old Naqeebullah who had been injured in the recent mortar shell attack from Afghanistan side of the border. The official also gave Rs50,000 each to the injured boy and to the husband of the woman killed in attack in Samsay.
