BAHAWALPUR: Five mortar shells, packed in a sack, were found near Sadiqgarh Palace at Dera Nawab Sahib on Sunday afternoon.
As receiving information, the bomb disposal squad from Bahawalpur immediately reached the spot and defused the shells. Talking to The News, ASP Mehzor Ali Ghauri said someone was carrying the shells but left those near the palace, smelling check-up as the police had launched a search operation in Ahmadpur East. He claimed that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
LAWYERS’ STRIKE: The lawyers of Rahimyar Khan and Khanpur will observe strike today (Monday) against the alleged torture of their colleague by a patwari and his accomplices.
Reportedly, Khurshid Khan Chandia advocate was tortured by Patwari Muhammad Shakil and his accomplices Hamza and Hafeez when he came out of the court of Khanpur civil judge on Saturday. The lawyers alleged that Khanpur City police had not arrested the accused despite registering a case.
When contacted, the police officials claimed that the accused had been taken in police custody, including Shakil who was in Khanpur THQ Hospital due to lawyers’ torture.
