Women, children among 14 injured in Charsadda violence
CHARSADDA: At least 14 people, mostly women and children, sustained injuries in separate acts of terrorism in Shabqadar tehsil of the district on Saturday, police sources said.
Alleged miscreants hurled as many as five hand grenades into schools and houses in Shabqadar tehsil, the sources added.
The first incident occurred in Miro area where alleged miscreants lobbed hand grenades into three houses in which a woman sustained injuries.
Similarly, the miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the main entrance to a private school in Shabqadar tehsil. The watchman and a student were wounded in the attack.
Likewise, the miscreants lobbed hand grenades into the house of Subhanullah in Misal Kor area on the boundary with Mohmand Agency. As a result, 11 members of the family all women and children sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to a local hospital from where they were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Lady Reading Hospitals in Peshawar. The officials of the bomb disposal unit and cops collected pieces of evidence from the crime scenes and presented a report to the police high-ups.
The frequent hand grenade attacks had created panic among the people. The police and officials of other security agencies cordoned off the area and launched a grand search operation after the attacks.
District Police Officer Sohail Ahmad told reporters that a Mohmand-based militant organisation was behind the terror acts in Charsadda. The group he said was involved in collecting extortions.
