An elderly woman died of cardiac arrest during what her family described as a burglary attempt in her house situated inside the gated Air Force Complex Society along Sharae Faisal on Friday.
The woman’s family claimed she lost her life during a burglary attempt, but the police said the autopsy report suggested she died of cardiac arrest not caused by any burglary incident.
Sharea Faisal SHO Israr Afridi said the family informed police that Nighat Aisha, 65, wife of Rafiullah, passed away during treatment at PNS Shifa at 3:15pm. The SHO, along with the Sharea Faisal DSP, visited the house to inspect the scene.
Nighat’s daughter-in-law, Sidra, told the police she was a teacher and left for her workplace at 11:15am. She said when she came back home, she found her mother-in-law unconscious with her hands cuffed.
Sidra further said she took her to PNS Shifa, where doctors pronounced her dead.
The SHO said the body was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi, where a medico-legal officer confirmed the woman had died of cardiac arrest.
The police officer said the society was gated and whoever entered the residential area was checked. He added that nothing was missing from the victim’s house.
