Two labourers killed, two injured during construction work in Haripur
HARIPUR: Two construction workers were killed while two others injured critically during the construction work of Hazara Motorway, police and eyewitnesses told here on Tuesday.
This was the second incident of slab falling within five days. Sera e Saleh police and eyewitnesses told that the work on placing heavy concrete slabs on pillars of flyover cum bridge near Mohri village on the Daur River, was in progress when the rope of crane snapped accidentally and a heavy slab fell on the laborers working under the bridge. One of the laborers was killed on the spot while two others were injured critically.
The body of the labourer and the injured were retrieved after putting in efforts by the fellow laborers. The victims were shifted to Women and Children Hospital where the deceased was identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Muhammad Sultan, a resident of Layya in Punjab province.
One of the two injured who were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad, also reportedly succumbed to injuries. But the police confirmed the death of only one person. According to police two cranes of the same construction company were damaged when concrete slabs fell in similar way near Shah Maqsood last Friday.
