KARACHI: Due to the collision of goods trains on Saturday near Kotri, the railway track was closed for maintenance. However, the trains have started functioning after the clearance of affected tracks. On the other hand, trains of both tracks, up and down, are using only one track for the time being.
On Saturday, 24 bogies were derailed after two goods trains crashed into each other. As a result, 18 containers, five oil tankers and one engine were destroyed. The train driver and fireman jumped out of the train to save their lives at the time of the incident.
Reportedly, almost half-a-kilometre railway track has been damaged and furnace oil, worth millions of rupees, has also been lost in the incident.
