PPP stages demo against loadshedding in Multan
MULTAN: PPP leaders and workers staged a demonstration and blocked the Chowk Kutchery for traffic against unscheduled power loadshedding here on Tuesday.
The PPP activists also staged a sit-in and chanted ‘Go Nawaz GO’ slogans. Speaking on the occasion, PPP south Punjab general secretary Natasha Daultana said that the government had failed in providing relief to common man and curbing unscheduled loadshedding, which had made the life miserable for people.
She said that people particularly in rural areas were suffering prolonged loadshedding. She said that power shutdown had become intolerable for the public as the government’s claims and promises of ending loadshedding remained unfulfilled.
She claimed that the PPP during its rule produced more than 4,000MW electricity and reduced loadshedding hours. PPP’s senior leader Habibullah Shakir, while condemning the unscheduled loadshedding, said power loadshedding was destroying small and medium industry in Multan and other districts of south Punjab.
The power outages were making thousands of poor workers jobless. PPP South Punjab media coordinator Khawaja Rizwan said that more than eight hours unscheduled power outages as well as low voltage in cities and rural areas had paralysed the life of common man.
