Senate body takes notice of Mardan incident
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Senator Abdul Rehman Malik Monday took serious notice of the lynching of Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, by a mob over allegations of blasphemy.
Rehman Malik has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit a comprehensive report on original Facebook and Twitter accounts of Mashal Khan which he was using himself, fake social media accounts being run in his name which were posting objectionable/blasphemous material, details of service providers and IP addresses of those fake accounts and details of social media accounts that continued to post objectionable material even after the murder of Mashal Khan, and IP addresses and service providers details for these fake accounts.
Rehman Malik expressed grave concern over the incident and termed it highly heart-breaking. He directed the Interior Ministry and KP government to investigate the motives behind Mashal Khan’s coldblooded murder that culprits could be punished according to law. He asked the provincial government to provide complete security to the bereaved family of Mahsal Khan.
