Hangu elders vow to maintain peace in district
HANGU: Sunni and Shia elders on Sunday held a meeting in the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) to maintain peace in the area.
The jirga was attended by Member Provincial Assembly Shah Faisal, DC Ihsanullah Khan, District Council Chairman Mufti Ubaidullah, Chairman Sunni Supreme Council Maulana Abdussatar, Maulana Tahseenullah, elders of the area, leaders of various political parties and officials of the police department.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that peace would be maintained in the district and stern action against those who violate the law would be taken.
It was collective responsibility of both the communities to main peace in the area, they added. They condemned attack on a member of the dispute resolution council (DRC).
DC Ihsanullah said that no one would be allowed to violate law. “The violators would be given exemplary punishment,” he maintained.
