Ex-CJP says honest people not successful in Pakistani politics
LAHORE
Honest people are not successful in Pakistani politics, said former chief justice of Pakistan Justice Jawwad S Khawaja.
Judges have to listen not to speak. Unfortunately, education is not on our priority list in Pakistan. Urdu language has become a differentiation which can prove to be harmful for our society. Constitutionally, Urdu is our national language but a small group of people don’t understand it, Jawwad S Khawaja said during 8th annual prize distribution ceremony of Tech Welfare High School at Tech Society Club on Sunday.
Manzoor A Shaikh, Abdul Majeed Khan, Mian Muhammad Jamil, Mrs Naheed Sheikh, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Mahmudur Rehman Chughtai and Dr Hasibullah also distributed prizes among position holder students.
Speaking on the occasion, former chief justice observed that British rulers left this region 70 years ago but we are still living as their slaves and speaking their language. If guardians of the Constitution will not implement then to whom they will blame, Justice Jawwad added.
Even a few verdict writers are weak in English because it’s not their mother tongue. Unluckily ethical, moral and human values are decreasing day by day in our society. Justice Jawwad appreciated the efforts of school principal Ifra Hashmi, management and declared Tech Welfare High School Trust a quality educational institution.
Former minister of state Qayyum Nizami, Jameel Gishkori and large number of women, gents and school students participated in the ceremony. Students presented national songs, tableau show and various skits which were appreciated by the participants.
Govt urged to facilitate farmers: Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed has demanded the Punjab government provide facilities to the farmers.
In a meeting with a delegation of farmers, Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed alleged that the chief minister always deceived the farmers and asked where was Rs 200 billion Kissan Package announced by PML-N government?
He said the government could not formulate its agricultural policy, adding why the CM had laid the foundation of green Punjab after a lapse of so many years. Mehmoodul Rasheed said the claims of facilitating farmers by the Punjab government were nothing but a jugglery of words.
Meanwhile, former MNA Shahid Manzoor Gill and a political figure from Sheikhupura Gul Agha called on PTI president central Punjab Abdul Aleem and announced joining the party. He expressed full confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan and said he was the only hope for the country. Former MNA from Hafizabad Mehdi Hassan Bhatti called on Abdul Aleem Khan.
