Imran’s statement about army chief ‘quite sane’: Saad
PR inducts US locomotives; Marriyum
says PTI chief can’t win 2018 polls due to politics of false allegations
LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday said political opponents were trying to degrade him.
He was addressing a ceremony here after formally inducting and launching the commercial services of modern 4000-horse power freight engines imported from the US.
The minister urged the PTI Chairman Imran Khan to avoid politics on national tragedies. “No deal has been made with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). All such PTI allegations are baseless. Imran Khan rarely says anything sensible but the statement he gave after meeting with the army chief was quite sane,” he said.
Talking about the Sindh IG’s appointment, Saad Rafique asserted that the Sindh government did not need an IG but a clerk. Criticising Zardari, he said: “The PPP should not talk about corruption. Instead of pointing out others, he should first see his own corruption.”
Talking about the project, he said the Pakistan Railways had purchased a total of 55 locomotives from the US out of which 14 had reached Pakistan. The remaining will be provided by July this year.
He said the purchase of these state-of-the-art engines had been done under the Pakistan’s vision 2025. The minister said out of 55 engines, 22 will be used for transportation of coal to the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, while the rest will be used for freight trains. — NNI
Sabah adds: Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said PTI chief Imran Khan could not win the 2018 general elections due to politics of false allegations. In a statement, she said instead of issuing concocted statements, Imran Khan should pay heed to his performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The state minister said Imran Khan was ridiculing the constitutional institutions of Pakistan. She said the basic aim of Imran Khan was to spread anarchy and riots in the country.
