CJP takes suo moto notice of defective probe, prosecution
Seeks reply from provinces, Centre prosecutor generals
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice of non-improvement in the system of prosecution and investigation.
The chief justice has issued notices to all the provincial and federal prosecutor generals in this regard and sought their replies regarding the lack of improvement in the investigation and prosecution system.
The CJ also directed the SC registrar to fix the case for hearing.It is pertinent to mention here that during the course of hearing of several criminal cases, the senior-most judge of the SC, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, had also raised questions on the performance of prosecution.He maintained in several cases that accused are acquitted due to weak prosecution.
