TIMERGARA: Criticising the silence of Muslim rulers, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq Monday urged the United Nations to take steps to prevent the disrespect of religions and sacred personalities in the name of freedom of expression or any other justifications.
Talking to reporters here, JI chief expressed grief and sorrow over the publication of the sacrilegious cartoons in a French magazine. He said it was the matter of death and life for the Muslims and they cannot ignore it.
“No Muslim can tolerate disrespect of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). We will not hesitate to sacrifice our lives for the honour of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his family,” he added. He said the nefarious designs of the Zionist lobby and its hatred for Islam was a conspiracy to push the world into third world war.
Criticising the leaders of the Muslim countries, Sirajul Haq said that the silence of the rulers of Muslim states over the conspiracies of western countries against Islam was a matter of grave concern.
“The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should hold a meeting over this sensitive issue or else Muslims across the globe would lose their patience and come to streets,” he warned. He said JI would hold million marches in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad on January 23 against the printing of the profane sketches in France.
He said that western countries were enemies of Muslims and sheltering those commit blasphemy. “Patronising such elements is also a form of terrorism,” he added. Opposing the 21st Amendment, Sirajul Haq said that the law was controversial and based on discrimination.
The JI chief said that jihad was one of the basic components of Islam. “JI is against terrorism and wanted rule of law in the country,” he concluded.
